STELIA Aerospace currently delivers some 2,500 pilot sets each year, among which the seats for all the Airbus aircraft. 25,000 STELIA Aerospace pilot seats are currently in service over the world, and since the start, some 40,000 seats have been delivered, always 100% on time and quality.
In order to improve its products through a better understanding of their use and to offer new functions to airlines and their pilots, STELIA Aerospace launched, in October 2016, a project for a digitalised and connected pilot seat.
This project aims at defining, installing and certifying, on a standard pilot seat, some captors including communication and data transfer tools based on the IoT (Internet of Things), as well as mobile apps.
This seat included some 30 additional and connected functions, in order to improve:
- follow-up of pilot seats identification data
- knowledge of their ways of use
- follow-up on their maintenance
- control of their definition.
Since beginning of May 2017, the first connected pilot seat is finalised, with Low Energy Bluetooth transmission of data, and a smartphone and tablet app has been developed. STELIA Aerospace hopes to test this connected seat on an A350XWB flight soon, in view of obtaining certification in 2018. The solution developed is applicable to all types of STELIA Aerospace pilot seats, existing or future.
